Dr. Angelo Zizzari

Dr. Angelo Zizzari is graduated "Dottore in Ingegneria Elettronica" (MSEE) from the University of Rome "La Sapienza", Italy, and "Doktoringenieur" (magna cum laude) (PhD) from the University of Magdeburg, Germany. He has more than ten years of post-doctoral experience in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

He started in 1994 with a research project at the Department of Computer Science, University of Rome "La Sapienza", regarding intelligent machines and application on robotics. He designed and realized a prototype of robotic system for space exploration. He has been one of the first researchers applying artificial neural networks for navigation control systems of mobile robots.

In 1996 he joined Eni group, the italian corporate for oil and gas, where he gained increasing responsibilities, first on a project regarding supervisory and control systems for national gas networks, then leading a team of computer specialists for multimedia communication projects.

In 2000 he joined the University of Magdeburg, Germany, where he has been responsible for a research project regarding the realization of a computer system for image guided radiotherapy.

In june 2002 he has been awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship in the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5) from the European Union. In 2002 he has been a visiting researcher at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna, Russia, at the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Liverpool John Moores University, (LJMU) Liverpool, UK, and at the Christie Hospital NHS Trust of Manchester, UK. In 2002-2003 he has been a visiting researcher at the Institut national de recherche en informatique et en automatique (INRIA) in Sophia Antipolis, France, for a scientific investigation on tumour detection and modelling.

In 2004 he has been a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Reading, UK, working for a research on 3D reconstruction of dendritic structures from microscope's images.

He has been Chair of special sessions at many scientific conferences of the IASTED (International Association of Science and Technology) and member of the International Program Committee for: SPPRA 2001 (Greece), ASM 2002 (Greece), AMS 2002 (USA), ASM 2003 (Spain), ASM 2004 (Greece), ASM 2005 (Spain). He published one book and he is the first author of 27 papers on scientific journals.

He is owner and inventor in the italian patent application n. RM2006A000091, filed the 22/02/2006 : "Construction system based on structural modular elements".

Since more than ten years he is member of Ordine degli Ingegneri di Roma (n.18591), the italian association of professional engineers.
